Having spent a year being introduced to 7 a side games we focus on not
only continuing to develop their skills and techniques, but encourage
them to develop their knowledge of the game. They continue to work on
their dribbling, shooting and passing but there is more emphasis on working
on their touches, ball control, tackling and turning.
At this stage they are also encouraged to think for themselves and make
their own decisions. They may not always mark up when they ought to, or
make the right pass (or make the pass at all), or dribble at the wrong
time/in the wrong place but it doesn’t matter. They are learning
the game and they love to play high risk football, making mistakes along
the way. But when they make mistakes, we show them how to avoid repeating
them.
Apart from playing games at a different pace and accustoming the players
to perhaps more physical aspects, our coaching programme continues to
focus on the specific phases of training they are at. |
