2002s San Diego Fundraiser Race Night will be held in the Factory Club Gourock on June 7th. Tickets are priced £5, include a cold buffet and disco to follow. The race night is open to ALL friends and family of the First Touch community. Our last race night was a great success and raised much needed funds to take the 2002s on a trip of a lifetime to San Diego CA in 2014. If you would like tickets or can help with raffle donations, please call or text Pauline on 07889 180466 of Kelly on 07806607637. We are also bag packing in Tesco Greenock this coming Saturday between 1-5pm and still collecting rag bags. Any support is hugely appreciated.

SUN SHINES ON FIRST TOUCH GOLF DAY

Click to view slideshow.Greenock GC was bathed in sunshine for the annual First Touch golf day organised by ex-parents Jim & Elaine McAulay. A record number of entries, twenty nine four balls, teed off as early as 9.30am through to the last at 4.30pm. (Details of prize winners to follow). Included in these teams were many ex-First Touch kids who have now turned to golf and featured strongly in the prize giving.

Everyone involved with First Touch would like to thank the many members of Greenock GC, Committee, Bar Staff, Club Pro and also Gary(Chef) for their continued support which they provide every year.
Lastly a special thanks to Jim & Elaine for a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone who attended and also those who attended the presentation in the clubhouse later in the evening.
Jim & Elaine presented First Touch with a cheque for £2100……..absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!

All kids should now be in possession of two books of raffle tickets, if you don’t have any please speak to one of your coaches tomorrow at coaching. All kids are asked to sell two books each to show our support to a fantastic day organised by ex-parents Elaine & Jim McAulay, all monies raised on the day are very kindly donated to First Touch a brilliant gesture as both Chris and Matthew are no longer at First Touch.

Cappielow Tournament Sunday 5th May 2013

Click to view slideshow.It was the turn of the 2001 and 2002 age groups to run out on the hallowed turf of Cappielow Park on Sunday. Around 120 kids from 12 teams took part, with players coming from East Kilbride, Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Glasgow as well as local clubs Ardgowan and St Andrews. All teams played 5 games of 20 minutes each, with the playing surface divided into three 7-a-side pitches for the Tournament. The mums of the 2002 group operated the Snack Bar which was well used by Spectators, Coaches and Players alike. First Touch would like to thank Douglas and Crawford Rae for the use of Cappielow for the day. This was the 13th staging of the popular tournament and is always a memorable occasion for the Players and Coaches.
Particular thanks must go to Award-winning Groundsman Mark Farrell who had the pitch in pristine condition despite the long season and testing weather conditions over the winter months.
First Touch would like to thank parent rep/Archie McPherson David Quigg for his commentating throughout the day and all the other parents who helped also.
Thank also to Donny Morgan for providing match day programmes.

2001 & 2002 CAPPIELOW TOURNEY THIS SUNDAY 5TH MAY KO 11AM

Click to view slideshow.This Sunday sees our 13th Cappielow Tourney featuring our 2001 & 2002 squads.

We are delighted and enormously grateful to have been given the opportunity to host today’s event at Cappielow Park for a 13th time and wish to thank the Chairman, Douglas Rae, Director Crawford Rae and all the staff from Morton Football Club for making this day possible. An extra special mention must go to Champion Groundsman Mark Farrell as pitch is like a bowling green.
We also extend a warm welcome to the other teams taking part today from EK Blues, St Andrews Boys Club, Giffnock S.C., EK Gold, Grassroots United, Ardgowan Thistle,Ardencaple, Dumbarton United and Johnstone Burgh. Today’s event means a lot to the young players taking part none more than for our local boys, many of whom are loyal fans of Morton .
The purpose of the Football Festival is to allow teams to play friendly matches. From the schedule of games you will see that each team will play 5 games lasting 20 minutes, with short intervals in between.

****Refreshments will be available in the stall at the rear of the Cowshed.****

LEWIS JAMIE & RYAN STAR IN GLASGOW CUP FINAL

Click to view slideshow.Three ex First Touch stars featured in the Glasgow Rangers Under 17 squad versus Glasgow Celtic in this seasons Glasgow Cup Final. Lewis Morgan, Jamie Mills & Ryan Sinnamon were victorious by 3-2 after coming back from 1-0 down, at a packed Firhill in front of almost 7,000 fans last night. As usual our local sharp shooter Kenny Ramsay was in amongst it as you can see from the pictures above. We look forward to hearing more on the boys along with the old guy in the group Robbie Crawford as their careers unfold.

2003 & 2004 CAPPIELOW TOURNEY

Click to view slideshow.Today at Cappielow Park home to Greenock Morton FC sees the 12th First Touch Football Festival. The tourney kicks off at 11am and will run until approx 3.30pm. Teams taking part include Port Glasgow BC, Port Glasgow Juniors, St Andrews, Ardgowan & Westerton at 2003′s along with Port Glasgow Juniors, Port Glasgow BC, Cherrie BC, Ardgowan & Dalry Cobras at 2004 age group.
First Touch would like to thank Douglas & Crawford Rae, Warren Hawke & Derek Anderson of Greenock Morton FC with special thanks to groundsman Mark Farrell for their continued support. Thanks also to Donny Morgan for producing todays matchday programme.
Admission to todays tourney is £1 for adults and programmes £1.

2002 Group put up strong showing at Ardencaple Tournament

On Sunday, all members of the 2002 squad that weren’t still on their Easter holidays travelled to Helensburgh to take part in the annual Ardencaple Tournament.

The morning competition got underway in terrible conditions with driving rain and gale force winds to contend with.

The 2002 squad ignored the conditions and won all three of their group games, defeating teams from Lochgilphead, Westerton and the hosts Ardencaple, scoring 15 goals without reply, a tremendous effort by the squad.

In the final the team faced Oban Saints and despite playing well and having many chances lost 1-0.

The squad were bitterly disappointed by this result but their style of passing football shown throughout the tournament deserved much praise.

Conditions dried up for the medal presentation and the squad hurried back to Greenock for Sean’s birthday party where any disappointment was cleansed from the system by….2 more hours of football.

2004s PLAY IN ARDENCAPLE TOURNEY

Click to view slideshow.2004 squad made the short trip to Helensburgh for the Ardencaple Toyota tournament, the boys started with a win (2-1). The second game wasn’t one of the best game the boys have played and were beaten. The final game saw them back to winning ways and played in the second place play off and finished 2nd. As you will notice from the photos we have employed a new coach due to Coach Craig Anderson’s work commitments and would like to congratulate Mr Ross Peacock on joining the coaching staff at the 2004 squad.

Well done to the boys and a massive thank you to the parents once again, I promise we won’t have to travel that early again!!
